Welcome back, Insider. Gmail now lets you search through your emails with natural language. It’s one of several new AI-powered Gmail updates that will make your inbox much easier to manage.

Today: Gmail just got Gemini-fied, learn how to practice case interviews with feedback using Claude, and get the latest prompts and trending social posts.

The Essentials

1. Gmail gets a handful of new AI updates: The search giant launched a wave of AI upgrades to Gmail, including an AI Inbox that surfaces your most important To Dos and updates, as well as AI Overviews that let you search through your inbox with natural language. It’s also making two previously paid features — Help Me Write and Suggested Replies — free for all personal users. Google stressed that all AI features are optional and that it doesn't use personal email content to train its models. Watch the updates in action here.

2. Anthropic ships Claude Code 2.1.0 with major agent upgrades: The AI company just released version 2.1.0 of its terminal-based coding tool, with updates that focus on agent workflows and developer productivity. Key additions include hooks for agents and skills, hot reload for skills, wildcard tool permissions, and a command that moves sessions directly to claude.ai/code. The release signals Anthropic's growing ambitions to evolve Claude Code from a chat-based coding assistant into a structured environment for programmable, persistent agents.

3. attn wants to replace your morning inbox scroll with an AI briefing: A new productivity tool called attn just launched, promising to connect your apps and deliver a daily priorities briefing — no inbox scrolling required. The tool connects to your existing productivity suite and uses AI to surface your biggest priorities and most important responsibilities for the day. The tool is currently in early access and has received plenty of interest on X.

The Headline
Microsoft wants to own AI’s buy button — but so does everyone else.

Microsoft enters the AI shopping battle. Microsoft just announced Copilot Checkout — a new feature that lets users shop and make purchases directly in-app. With this update, Copilot joins OpenAI, Perplexity, Gemini, and Amazon’s Rufus as chatbots that can purchase products for you. The list is fairly small for now — but 2026 could be the year that agentic commerce becomes mainstream.

The performance gap is already clear. AI drove 20% of all global orders last holiday season, generating $262 billion in revenue through personalized recommendations. Another key stat: AI-referred shoppers converted 9x more often than social media referrals during the holiday season — a significant difference.

Building the infrastructure. Payment giants are racing to power agentic commerce transactions, with both Visa and Mastercard building solutions that are expected to roll out in early 2026. This infrastructure could pave the way for more AI chatbots, tools, and solutions to offer shopping capabilities this year.

What this means. The way we shop, compare, and buy is being rewritten — and companies are jockeying for a position in the emerging ecosystem. The debate for 2026 won't be whether AI transforms commerce. It already has. The real fight is over who owns the buy button.

The Edge
Turn novelty into your competitive advantage: How to practice case interviews with feedback using Claude

  • Upload your case study so Claude can extract all key data. (Enable ‘Extended Thinking’ for deeper analysis ).

  • Tell Claude your goal and ask it to build a spreadsheet model with formulas and core frameworks.

Sample Prompt: I'm practicing for consulting interviews. Set up this practice scenario for me using the case I've uploaded, extract the data into a spreadsheet model with formulas and frameworks. Then, tell me what questions I should focus on. After I finish my analysis and write my recommendation, I'll share it for feedback. Review it like a senior partner would: check my numbers, evaluate my logic, and tell me specifically what needs improvement.

  • Let Claude generate your practice guide: key questions, required analyses, and what to focus on.

  • Once done, ask follow-ups to refine your approach, compare alternative solutions, dive into specific frameworks, or request a tighter review of your work.
